Nocterra Bookery is Moving!

One Door Closes But We Break Down the Entire Wall

Lots of things have been happening with our little bookstore. Some of you already know, some may have heard whispers, and some of you may be reading this going What the heck happened, what, where, and why?? For those who may be feeling a bit blind-sided, let us catch you up.

NOCTERRA BOOKERY IS MOVING

While we loved our little balcony boutique, it was becoming increasingly clear that Nocterra was stifled by circumstance after circumstance. Fighting with auto-locking vestibules (which had locked us IN a couple of times!), a not-so-visitor-friendly layout making any sort of gathering nearly impossible, so many iterations of  “Oh wow, I didn’t even know i could come up here!” and so much more made it clear it wasn’t sustainable.

We loved our neighbors at Andre’s’ Aquisitions and Nirvana Coffee & Games, and we are going to miss them, but it's time to stretch our wings. So, we went hunting for a new home.

And oh, did we find it!

We are proud to announce officially that we are moving into the

Country Meadows Shopping Center off

E. U.S. 40 Highway!!

Journey of inspiration

Demo and Decorating has already commenced, thanks to our amazing Bookstore Gargoyle who have already been an immense help during this transition. We are hoping to have our doors re-opened within a couple of months, just in time for my favorite holiday: Halloween/Samhain!

KICKSTARTER

Nocterra's new home is a 1600 sq ft, open floor plan with ground level entrance, lots of parking, large windows, and excited neighbors. It's exactly what we need and almost move-in ready. Why only almost? Because apparently when Jazzercize moved out, they pulled up their ENTIRE FLOOR and took it with them!

Thus the idea to try crowdfunding out, because we have plans but those floors? That's going to take a huge chunk of our initial relocation funding.

The end goal is a space where people can come to escape and to create. We are expanding from a small boutique bookstore to an inviting Third Space. Before, we barely had room for just a few bookshelves against a wall, and a tightly-spaced sitting room that could hold no more than 10 people (if we packed them in tight). Not only will we be expanding the usable space for retail, but we will have cozy sitting nooks for quiet reading and an open space dedicated to gathering.

It will have a movable/modular table set up that allows the community to come together to create and discuss, as well as a raised platform that is perfect for hosting author Q&As, lectures, and even the random fun evening of community trivia or karaoke! We will even be soundproofing a small office room and offering a space for private recording for podcasts or narrators who might have trouble getting a quiet space to work.

By following our Kickstarter page, you will get updates on our campaign and receive a notification when we launch (which should be in the next 2-3 weeks!) Every follow and share helps spread the word about our future.

EVENT CALENDAR

Just because our doors are temporarily closed, doesn't mean we aren't out there! We will have regular pop-ups at The Tiny Tea Cup in Blue Springs on Tuesdays, Andaes' Aquisitions on Wednesdays, and Nirvana Coffee & Games on Saturdays while we rebuild!

We are also pleased to be part of Third Friday Art Walk in Englewood Arts District and Pagans in the Park this month! So please swing by and say hello!

Can't make it out? No worries! We have online shopping options!

In the meantime... enjoy a little demo chaos by our bookstore gargoyles <3

Keep your eyes on the Nocterra socials... you never know what else we may announce!

I'm Kai Watson, and I've known my whole life my spirit leaves my body while I sleep. For years, I've used my ability to travel the world. Now I'm determined to learn more about what I can do.

While searching for answers, I meet a teen psychic named Crystal Frost. She's easy to open up to, but I still have to tell my family and friends about my gift. If I don't tell them now, I may never work up the courage, and I'll spend the rest of my life regretting it.
